Overview

Learn the fundamentals of the ancient technique of creating models in wax which is core of jewelry manufacturing today. Types of wax, the right files, how to gauge thickness in wax, caving techniques the use of burs and gravers are all covered in this comprehensive intro class. You will start by carving a heart in wax, a bit cliche, but the shape of heart teaches beginners how to create compound curves while maintaining consistent wall thickness which is an essential of wax carving. Once the basics are covered you will progress to create a signet ring or a ring with a bezel setting. Where to cast your models, clean up and finishing will also be covered in class.
