Moderator Annette Insdorf interviews actor and co-screenwriter Daniel Day-Lewis, director and co-screenwriter Ronan Day-Lewis, and actor Sean Bean about their film Anemone.
Set in Northern England, Anemone explores tensions that are both generational and fraternal. Jem (Sean Bean) sets out to find his estranged brother Ray (Daniel Day-Lewis), who has been living as a hermit in the woods following a self-imposed exile. Through a set of gradual discoveries, we learn about their relationship to Nessa (Samantha Morton in another superb performance) and her troubled son Brian (Samuel Bottomley). Can forgiveness overcome their emotional wounds?
Daniel Day-Lewis has won Academy Awards for his lead performances in My Left Foot, Gangs of New York and Lincoln. He returns to the screen for the first time since 2017, under the direction of his son Ronan Day-Lewis for this remarkably assured first feature. Sean Bean is best known for The Lord of the Rings, Troy, and Patriot Games.
