Disney’s Inside Out 2: Maya Hawke in Conversation with MTV’s Josh Horowitz

Feb 10, 2025

Join award-winning actress Maya Hawke for a converstion on her recent Disney and Pixar hit Inside Out 2 with MTV’s Josh Horowitz.

An instant classic in the Pixar canon, Inside Out followed a team of Emotions — Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust — as they operated in the mind of a young girl named Riley. Now, in Inside Out 2, Riley is becoming a teenager, and a new Emotion is on the scene: Anxiety (voiced with warmth and wit by Maya Hawke), threatening the equilibrium of Riley’s newly formed sense of self. Wise, imaginative, funny, and full of profound emotional intelligence, Inside Out 2 is a hit with audiences and critics alike.

Let’s face it: we live in anxious times. Who better to help us through it than an evening with the voice of Anxiety herself? In a special live recording of Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, hear Hawke on the making of the film — how she approached her character’s voice, the role of anxiety in our culture and the formation of our identities, the pleasures and challenges of acting in an animated film, stories from the set, and more.
