Howard Gardner, a developmental psychologist and author of Extraordinary Minds: Portraits of 4 Exceptional Individuals and An Examination of Our Own Extraordinariness (1997), gives a lecture about what it means to be an extraordinary person. Gardner explains his definition of “extraordinary people” and address questions about the generalization of extraordinariness, including whether extraordinary people are born or made, and how one can study the genus of an extraordinary person. He shares his research into extraordinary creators and leaders, including Albert Einstein, Pablo Picasso, Sigmund Freud, and Winston Churchill. The lecture concludes with audience questions.
