Lyrics & Lyricists: An Evening with Sammy Cahn
Sammy Cahn was an Academy Award-winning lyricist, songwriter and musician, best known for his romantic lyrics to tin pan alley and Broadway songs, as recorded by Frank Sinatra, Doris Day and many others. He performed at 92Y's long-running Lyrics & Lyricists series in March 1972 which was recorded and released as the album, An Evening with Sammy Cahn. In this excerpt from the original recording, Maurice Levine, the founding director of Lyrics & Lyricists, gives the introduction.
