Michael Douglas in Conversation with Happy Sad Confused’s Josh Horowitz: One Helluva Ride

Oct 06, 2026

Please submit questions for the speakers in the chat starting on October 6 at approximately 6 pm ET.

Two-time Academy Award winner Michael Douglas joins us for the launch of his new memoir, One Helluva Ride, and to reflect on his remarkable life on and offscreen.

Opening up about his fractured childhood and a complex relationship with his superstar father, Kirk Douglas, in his new memoir Michael Douglas finally gives the full and uncensored account of his life. Initially dismissed as the handsome son of a legendary movie star, Douglas went on to star in films that captured the zeitgeist of his generation, including The China Syndrome, Romancing the Stone, Fatal Attraction, Wall Street, Basic Instinct, The American President, Traffic, and many others.

Yet as Douglas’s fame grew, so did his personal struggles. He recounts the full, unfiltered story of his turbulent first marriage; his struggle with alcohol, drugs and rehab; the heartbreaking fight to save his son from an addiction that sent him to prison; and his against-all-odds battle with stage IV cancer.

In his first live appearance for the book in NYC, hear Douglas reveal behind-the-scenes stories featuring a who’s who of Hollywood — including his enduring marriage and love story with Catherine Zeta-Jones. Don’t miss this deeply honest, vulnerable conversation with the Michael Douglas you didn’t know until now.
