Menopause is a natural phase of life that affects all women (and the people who care about them) – yet it remains underdiscussed, underfunded, and sometimes stigmatized. Women and even healthcare providers are typically not taught about all of the treatment options or resources. It’s time for change.
October is Menopause Awareness Month and 92NY’s Spark Your Health is thrilled to celebrate with a panel of women’s health experts to make this topic a lot less awkward and a lot more accessible.
Join Jacqueline Giannelli, RN, MSN, FNP-BC, NCMP; Caroline Messer, MD; Anita Mirchandani, MS, RD; and Lauren Tetenbaum, LCSW, JD, PMH-C with all your friends, whether you identify as being in “midlife” or not. The average age of menopause for U.S. women is 51, but perimenopause symptoms often begin in a woman’s 30s, and many women experience early, premature, or induced menopause earlier – so it’s never too early or late to learn! We’ll explore all the ways the menopause transition can impact one’s health, including changes to mood, metabolism, sexual wellness, and interpersonal relationships. This is a conversation you don’t want to miss that will leave you feeling empowered and prepared!
