Wisdom of Happiness: Richard Gere in Conversation

Oct 11, 2025

Please submit questions for the speakers in the chat starting on October 11 at approximately 8:45 pm ET.

Moderator Annette Insdorf will interview Richard Gere after the screening of a new documentary about the Dalai Lama. But instead of focusing on his impressive acting career, they will discuss his decades-long relationship with the Dalai Lama, and the role that Buddhism has played in his life. For example, how does a commitment to spiritual vibrancy inform creative possibilities? Wisdom of Happiness — executive produced by Gere and Oren Moverman — is anchored in an intimate interview with the Dalai Lama, along with stunning footage of the environments we inhabit.

For the last two decades, Richard Gere has served as Chairman of the International Campaign for Tibet. An actor, producer, Golden Globe winner (for Chicago), and humanitarian, he is best known for films including An Officer and a Gentleman, Days of Heaven, American Gigolo, Pretty Woman, Primal Fear, Arbitrage, Shall We Dance, The Hoax, and Internal Affairs. He can currently be seen in Paramount and Showtime’s hit television series, The Agency.
