Have a great idea for a story, but don't know where to begin? Or perhaps the words are flowing, but you're struggling to find the shape of your story? This foundational class is for you! In our four weeks together, we will sharpen all the tools in your writer's toolbox in order to get you going on your fiction project. Through a combination of lively generative exercises, honest discussions around craft, and close readings of published stories, we will deepen our understanding of character and conflict, dialogue and point-of-view, structure and tone, and explore how all these elements work together to make our narrative voice the singular force that it is. The month will culminate in a 30 minute one-on-one session to discuss a piece of writing of the student's choice or their process in general.
