Zach Seeger’s Supply List

The course is open to acrylic or oil paint.

• Recommended color palette: Cobalt blue, lemon yellow, ultramarine blue, cadmium red light, alizarin crimson, and titanium white. Additional colors are encouraged.
• a variety of brushes
• Disposable palette
• containers for water (when applicable)
• paper towels
• watercolor paper (9” x 12” or larger), or stretched prime canvas no smaller than 16” x 22.”

Suggested Materials for Abstract Painting 

Paints (Acrylic are suggested - Oil if you already own them):Please bring a basic set of primary colors plus a few additional tones for greater expressive range. Suggested colors include: 

• Titanium White 
• Mars Black  
•  Payne’s Gray 
• Cadmium Red Medium 
• Alizarin Crimson 
• Lemon Yellow 
• Yellow Ochre 
• Ultramarine Blue 
• Cerulean Blue 
• Viridian Green or Sap Green 
• Burnt Sienna 
• Raw Umber

Golden or Liquitex brands are suggested - or you can mix with some less expensive as Blic material’s colors. 

Brushes and Tools: 

• A variety of brushes: round and flat (small, medium, large) 
• 1 Palette knives 
• Toothbrush or sponges (optional for splattering/effects) 
• Mist spray Battle - for water based colors like acrylic  

Painting Surfaces: 

• Canvas panels or stretched canvases (minimum 11x14 inches, larger sizes welcome) 
• Heavyweight mixed media or acrylic paper pad (minimum 9x12 inches) 
• Optional: Wood panels or cardboard for experimentation 

Palette and Containers: 

• Plastic or wood palette (or disposable palette pad) 
• Two water containers (for washing and rinsing brushes) 

Additional Materials: 

• Sketchbook for compositional studies 
• Graphite pencil or charcoal stick 
• Rags or paper towels 
• Masking tape or painter’s tape 
• Gel medium or matte medium (for acrylics) 
• Optional: Collage materials, glue, found objects
