Gloria Steinem changed the way generations of women understood their lives, their potential, and their power.
On September 27, we gather to celebrate her extraordinary life and work. Emmy Award-winning journalist Katie Couric, who was originally scheduled to appear in conversation with Steinem, will moderate the evening. Joining the event are Marlo Thomas and Amy Richards, both of whom shared decades-long friendships and professional partnerships with her.
Steinem’s final book, An Unexpected Life, offers a deeply personal account of the experiences that formed her, from a childhood spent traveling the country with her itinerant father and caring for her mother, to her transformative years in India and her decades at the center of the women’s movement. Her story is inseparable from the history she helped make.
Across 20 appearances on the 92NY stage, Steinem brought her clarity, wit, curiosity and unwavering belief in the power of collective action to our community. Join us to remember Gloria Steinem, revisit the ideas that animated her life, and celebrate the remarkable influence she had on American life.
