In his haunting and visually striking graphic novel Never Again Will I Visit Auschwitz, artist and educator Ari Richter transforms a deeply personal encounter with one of history’s darkest sites into a powerful meditation on memory, trauma, and moral witness.
With raw honesty and evocative imagery, Richter confronts the tension between remembrance and fatigue — between honoring the past and living in its shadow. In conversation with Rabbi David Ingber, Richter explores how art can serve as both testimony and resistance, and how contemporary Jewish identity continues to be shaped by the legacy of the Holocaust. Drawing the Shoah is a journey through lines and silence, absence and presence — a reminder that even as we say “never again,” the work of remembering is never done.
