Richard F. Reeves, Chief Political Correspondent for The New York Times, speaks about the relationship between television and American politics. Reeves contends that “television is politics” and “politics is television.” He explains how TV news not only informs the public but actively distorts and influences events and elections. He also reflects on the power of television as a specifically visual medium and the implications of television news as a secondary source. The lecture is followed with questions from the audience.
