Marx, Herzl and Freud: Nearsighted Visions of Redemption?

The Marxist Vision

Oct 24, 1989

Dr. Harvey Klehr, a professor of politics at Emory University and author of The Heyday of American Communism: The Depression Decade (1984) and Far Left of Center: The American Radical Left Today (1988), discusses Marxism and the Jewish community in the United States. He examines the “strange phenomenon” of the Jewish community’s role and increasingly heavy representation in radical groups, such as the Communist Party in the U.S. He also discusses Karl Marx’s antisemitic views and the ways these views persist within the Marxist movement. The discussion concludes with audience questions.
