Poet, writer, and activist Robin Morgan reads excerpts from her new collection of essays, The Word of a Woman: Feminist Dispatches, 1968-1992 (1992). This is the final About Women lecture of 1992. The Word of a Woman features a “defiantly eclectic” selection of original essays from across Morgan’s career as a feminist activist. She wrote a short preface for each essay, engaging her former self in a dialogue and providing updated insight without editing her original words. Throughout the evening, Morgan reflects on her writing and her experiences with the feminist movement, including her participation in the protest of the 1968 Miss America pageant, where it was incorrectly reported that protestors burned bras. The lecture is followed with questions from the audience.
