• Cansen Tinnted assorted pastel paper, 12 x 16

• Tombow MONO zero elestomer erasers, sizes 2.5 x 5mm and 2.3mm (optional)
• white prismacolor pencil for doing drawings on tinted paper

Supply List for Susan Cottle’s Class:

All drawing media are welcome. Demonstrations will be using white Drawing Paper and pencil and charcoal for the first three weeks, then introducing wet media beginning week 4.

• Graphite pencils: 2H, HB 2B, 4B,8B
• Thin or medium Sticks Vine or willow Charcoal (3 pack is fine-soft or medium)
• Winsor Newton Charcoal (one stick)
• Paper (I like 14” x 17” Strathmore smooth white with brown cover. )
• Kneaded eraser
• Mars Plastic eraser
• Optional: Chamois cloth
• Mono zero retractable eraser for detail
• Exacto knife or hand- held pencil sharpener
• A soft synthetic brush: I like Princeton Neptune ¾ oval wash, or # 10 or 12 soft synthetic brush as Mimik Kolinsky, or Square wash.
• Cup for water
• Paper towels

Optional: if you prefer or want to try a wash approach, watercolor, ink or any water-soluble pencil or pen
We will go over this on the first day. You will not need until week 3 .

All drawing media are welcome. Demos will be using watercolor and wet medium. Dry medium:

• Graphite pencils: 2H, 2B, 6B
• Sticks Vine or Charcoal
• Drawing paper (recommendations: weight: 80 lb or Thicker; size: 12” by 16” or larger; white or toned surface) or newsprint (size: 18” by 24” or larger)
• Kneaded eraser
• Long point sharpener
• Optional: plastic eraser (recommendations: Tombow MONO eraser); soft white coal or other color pencils Wet medium:
• Watercolor paper (weight: 100lb or thicker; size: 12” by 16” or larger; recommendations: I buy a large sheet of paper and divide it into multiple sheets but a pad of paper is fine) or printmaking paper (recommendations: Legion Stonehenge 120 lb toned paper, or any other type of paper you would like to try on)
• Mixing tray: a multi-well porcelain tray or a butcher tray
• Paints: Ultramarine Blue and 3 other colors of your choice (recommendations: pick one or two of preferred colors plus getting their complimentary colors, preferably in Tubes; I prefer Schmincke but other brands are fine)
• Brushes:
  • Two round short handle brushes ( one small and the other in size 8 or larger)
  • One larger shorter handle flat brush in size ¾” or larger (I recommend Princeton Velvettouch or Utrecht synthetic Squirrel mix. They are both affordable and durable)
  • Optional: angled flat brushes
• TWO cups for water
• Paper towels
• Optional but highly recommended: clear gesso or white gesso (I recommend Liquitex or any other acrylic medium brands. Small size is great. They last long)
