In this class, each student will develop their artistic voice, expand their movement capacity, and learn choreographic tools.
Students will choreograph individual and group pieces using inspiration from themes that are personally relevant. Delving into dance history, students will investigate the works of choreographers of the past and present who have performed and/or developed work over 92NY’s 150-year history. Students will discover how dance is used for a variety of purposes including storytelling, education, and as a tool for social change. Placing themselves within 92NY’s dance lineage, they will begin to see themselves as the choreographers of the future.
