Sew What!? Tailoring for All Levels

Overview

Do you have clothes in your closet that need the attention of a tailor... a pair of pants that need hemming; a great vintage piece that doesn't fit quite right; your favorite jacket that is fraying at the edges; or maybe a shirt that you love, but the buttons are falling off? In this workshop you will learn to do your own alterations and repairs on a variety of garments. Workshop instruction will focus on vital hand-sewing and machine-sewing techniques for sprucing up your wardrobe by using real-life examples brought into the classroom by you, the aspiring tailor. All levels of sewers are welcome. By learning these simple but useful skills, you will never look at clothing the same way, it will open your outfits up for endless possibilities.

Nicholas Giannelli is an apparel graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and spent two decades working with both corporate fashion companies (Carhartt, Gap, Andrew Marc) and later the sartorial Geoffrey B. Small in Italy for a more hands-on and design-oriented practice. He is currently a luxury tailor working at Jeeves on the Upper East Side.
