Shaping metal with a hammer is about as elemental as the craft gets. Metalsmithing techniques have been used for centuries and remain largely intact, used to make everything from hollowware to wrought jewelry. In this class, you'll learn the foundational silversmithing skills of forging, raising, and sinking, working in copper and sterling silver on a stake or anvil. You'll leave with two finished pieces: a forged bangle or other smithed object, and a raised or sunk bowl. Open to true beginners and to makers with prior experience.
