The Art of Listening
The Art of Listening

Overview

What makes music beautiful, powerful, and meaningful? This class invites students to listen more deeply to classical music by exploring the essential building blocks of music, including rhythm, pitch, melody, harmony, and form.

Through guided listening, live demonstration, and examples from the works of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, and other great composers, students will discover how musical ideas are shaped and how different elements work together to create expression, structure, and emotional impact. The class also includes a brief historical overview of major musical styles, placing these masterpieces in their broader cultural and artistic context.

Designed for curious listeners of all backgrounds, The Art of Listening offers practical tools for experiencing classical music with greater confidence, insight, and enjoyment.
