Writing Poetry with Rachel Hadas

Overview

The theme of all four weeks of this workshop is travel. We'll focus on a few of the countless ways poems can address this topic - travel as narrative, as trope, as dream, as domestic or exotic, descriptive or surreal, journalistic or confessional, local or global, arrival or departure - the possibilities are unlimited. Workshop members should read the nine assigned poems, and should submit a travel-themed poem to the instructor in the weeks before our time together begins. Thereafter we’ll look at a new poem by each workshop member every week. Discussions will refer to the nine assigned poems, as well as to the poems you’ll be writing. I look forward to working with you all and to learning about some new possibilities of travel poems.
