The Study Series is a monthly dance community initiative providing emerging choreographers with a low-pressure environment to share studies on a selected theme.
Founded by Elizabeth Buchheister in 2025, the goal of The Study Series is to encourage artists to continue developing and expanding their creative process, compositional skills, and choreographic craft without the need to present finished work. The Study Series also aims to create an accessible place for artists to connect and to offer audiences a new perspective into dancemaking.
November 6 will feature work by Thomas Hogan, Shelby Green, Louise Coleman and Marissa Chen. Audiences are encouraged to leave written feedback for the artists to further “study,” and engage with a post-showing Q and A talkback.
About Fridays in Arnhold
Fridays in Arnhold honors the legacy of Fridays at Noon, the beloved informal performance and discussion series established at the Harkness Dance Center in 1987. For decades, Fridays at Noon offered artists a welcoming space to test ideas, share works-in-progress, and engage audiences in the creative process.
Fridays in Arnhold carries that spirit forward, continuing 92NY’s longstanding tradition of supporting experimentation, artistic exchange, and the creation of new work. In the intimate setting of the Arnhold Dance Studio, audiences have a rare opportunity to experience dance artists’ creative processes up close.
Each free, informal evening is shaped by the featured artist and may include works in process, excerpts, improvisation, conversation, or Q&A. Audiences are invited into the room as artists experiment, share ideas, and develop their work.
Space is limited and R.S.V.P. is required.
