Overview

What lies ahead for the US–Israel relationship?

With questions surrounding new government coalitions in Jerusalem, the elections results in the US midterms, and a rapidly changing Middle East, both nations face consequential decisions that will shape region’s future.

Join Columbia University SIPA Dean Keren Yarhi-Milo, former US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides, leading Israeli journalist and Senior Research Scholar at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs Nadav Eyal, and Palestinian-Israeli journalist and political correspondent for Kan 11 Suleiman Maswadeh for a timely conversation examining domestic political shifts in both countries, potential avenues for the next governing coalition, and how leadership decisions in Washington and Jerusalem will redefine the bilateral relationship.

Bringing together perspectives from diplomacy, academia and journalism, the discussion will look beyond immediate headlines and political maneuvering to ask the larger questions: What will the political landscape in Washington and Jerusalem mean for the future of the US–Israel relationship? How might Israel’s election shape relations with the Palestinians and regional partners? And where does the partnership go from here?
