Spend February break writing, creating, and connecting with other young writers at 92NY.

The Young Writers’ Winter Workshop brings together teen writers in a supportive, creative community. Led by acclaimed authors and literary artists, students strengthen their craft and develop confidence in their unique voices through focused work in poetry or fiction.

The workshop includes two cohorts of up to 20 students each:

  • Ages 12–14: Poetry
  • Ages 15–18: Fiction

Through daily writing exercises, guided instruction, group discussions, and peer feedback, students generate new work and revise selected pieces. The program culminates in a celebratory Open Mic on February 19, where students are invited to share their writing with family, friends, and fellow participants.

Ages 12–14: Poetry

Registration Required (No Application)

Writers ages 12–14 explore poetry through playful prompts, creative experimentation, and collaborative exercises. Students discover new ways to work with language, sound, imagery, rhythm, and form.

Over four days, students will generate original poems, revise selected work, and practice sharing and discussing writing in an encouraging workshop environment.
