Teen Gems Application

Important Information

Teen Gems is offered through 92NY, New York, a performing arts and community center on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The application form below must be submitted by September 1, 2026 for the Fall 2026 Teems Gems program. Applicants are to provide one reference, a teacher or other school-based staff member.

If selected, students will participate in a free 12-week jewelry making course with possible lectures and studio visits by makers in NYC’s jewelry industry.

Accepted students must be available for a minimum of 12 weekly meetings every Thursday from 4-6:30 PM beginning September 17 - December 17 (except for November 26 which is a holiday).

Upon completion of the Fall semester, students will be awarded a stipend of $400. Students who miss more than two consecutive or three classes in total will be asked to leave the program and are ineligible for the stipend.

Program Components

In the first semester of Teen Gems, students will learn basic jewelry techniques such as forming, cutting, and soldering metal. Students who continue with the program long-term can build upon their skills and learn more advanced techniques such as setting gemstones, wax carving, enameling, and fabricating hollow forms. In addition to hands-on studio experience, advanced students will have the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and access professional development resources.
