Advanced Screenwriting with Dan Perlman

Overview

This course is designed for writers who have moved past the introductory, "how-to" phase and are ready to focus on the development of their existing material. Whether you are sitting on a scattershot first draft of a short film, a handful of unfinished sketches, or a half-hour pilot that’s been gathering dust for years, this advanced workshop provides the structure and professional feedback needed to push your work to the next level. We move beyond the basic principles of formatting and three-act structure to focus on the most critical part of screenwriting, which is revision. Identifying what’s working, diagnosing what isn't, and chipping away to a more polished script. An ideal environment for those looking to shake off the rust, refine their voice, and hone a rough draft into a submission-ready project through consistent peer workshops and guided development.

Students are chosen on the basis of a manuscript submission. Applications must be received by November 16 at 5 pm. View the submission guidelines and submit an application for this class.
