Print Transfer on Pottery & Tile
92NY and Kala Stein Studio Present:

Print Transfer on Pottery & Tile

Overview

In this 2.5 hour Zoom workshop, Forrest will demonstrate the printing process he uses for both tile making and pottery, as well as the volumetric image transfer process he developed in order to transfer imagery to pottery forms while throwing them on the wheel.

He will explore how he employs certain tools and techniques to make patterned and shaped architectural tiles possible in a larger production scenario. Forrest will give a studio tour, and talk about the common pitfalls of tile and pottery production, and steps you can employ to mitigate them. He will go into detail about his own work and the successes he has found beyond the life of being a studio potter and tile maker, including his collaborations with other artists, and the development of Petaluma Pottery, a community studio that he set up with his wife Beth Schaible in Northern California.

Hosted by artist and educator Kala Stein (Sonoma, CA), the workshop will be facilitated with care and attention, including managing participant questions and overseeing multiple camera angles to ensure a clear and engaging learning experience. Kala has collaborated with artists from around the world, offering online workshops since 2020, bringing years of shared teaching experience and thoughtful dialogue to the virtual format.

If the live Zoom session doesn’t align with your schedule, you’re still welcome to enroll. All registered participants will receive access to the full workshop recording, which you may watch at your convenience as many times as you like for 90 days. If you cannot make the workshop time, you can submit your questions ahead of time to “kala [at] kalastein [dot] com” and you will get the recording on your student dashboard once it is processed.
