Dancemakers. Rulebreakers. Artistic soulmates. German co-choreographers Alice Klock and Florian Lochner create work of striking physicality and emotional depth — “like watching an agave bloom in the fluctuating luminescence of a desert sky” (Chicago Reader).
Following the New York premiere of their first ensemble touring show at 92NY in 2023 and a Summer Intensive in 2026, FLOCK returns with a mesmerizing US premiere where lush partnering and visionary costumes trace a fashion designer's spiral from artistry into obsession.
In The Designer, a fashion designer conjures a world where his creations come to life, each garment embodying an archetype of the Tarot’s Major Arcana, from the innocence of The Fool to the shadow of Death, to the yearning of The Lovers. What begins in beauty and control spirals into obsession, as the designer confronts whether he shapes his creations, or is consumed by them. Featuring FLOCK’s signature partnering and theatrical storytelling, the work comes to vivid life through visionary costumes by Hogan McLaughlin, transforming each dancer into a living embodiment of the cards.
Part of the Home season, FLOCK’s return marks an ongoing artistic exchange; an international company crossing borders and deepening roots, finding their creative home at 92NY. They return for a screening of their film Holy Grail at the Dance On Film Festival, June 18.

Alice Klock and Florian Lochner discovered their co-creative magic while serving as dancers and Choreographic Fellows at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. In 2017, they created FLOCK, through which they perform their own work and co-create new choreography for film and stage. Their most recent international tours include their evening length productions Somewhere Between (named one of Chicago Tribune’s top 10 shows of 2023), Quest, Anima, and The Designer. As a team, they have choreographed for multiple dance companies, universities, and cultural institutions, including Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Whim W’Him, GroundWorks DanceTheater, Backhausdance, Orsolina 28, Ballet Idaho, University of Michigan, Seattle Dance Collective, the Goethe Institut, the Alonzo King LINES Ballet BFA, and The 92nd Street Y. Every year they create a new production for the Freilichtspiele Schwäbisch Hall in southern Germany where they are company in residence.
