Women inPower is a leadership initiative of the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at 92NY, dedicated to helping women-identifying professionals rise to the highest levels of leadership—and reshaping the systems that define power along the way.
Launched in 2016 as a cross-sector fellowship, Women inPower began with a clear mission: to provide mentorship, executive training, and community for mid-career leaders at a critical inflection point in their professional journeys. Since then, the program has supported nearly 300 fellows and built a growing network of thousands of accomplished alumnae, mentors, and changemakers across industries.
Women inPower has also evolved into a multi-dimensional platform that includes:
While our offerings have expanded, our values remain the same: equity, ambition, authenticity, and impact.
Why Women inPower Matters
Despite progress, women remain significantly underrepresented in top leadership roles:
Only 10.6% of Fortune 500 CEOs are women (as of 2024)
Women continue to earn less than men—especially women of color
Most leadership development programs don’t address the mid-career drop-off—or create space for leaders across sectors to learn from each other
Women inPower seeks to address these gaps through a bold, supportive, and effective leadership model. Our alumni lead across industries—from philanthropy to finance, health to media, tech to policy—and more than half of them have reached the C-suite, landed major promotions, or increased their compensation after participating.
We are especially proud that:
Over 60% of our 2025 cohort identify as women of color
Fellows come from all sectors, including business, government, nonprofit, tech, medicine, and media
Our mentor network includes 75+ senior executives committed to advancing inclusive leadership

Women inPower is part of the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at 92NY, a hub for civic engagement, creative problem-solving, and social good. From democratic dialogue to community wellness to inclusive leadership, the Belfer Center builds programs that bring people together to advance a more just and connected society.
