Eleven-time Grammy Award-winning bassist Christian McBride is one of the preeminent musicians of our time, with a discography and history of live collaboration with artists from Sting to Dianne Reeves, and Herbie Hancock to James Brown.
Also a premier bandleader, McBride returns to our stage with his 17-piece big band, bringing the swing, swagger, and joy that has made it one of the most thrilling large ensembles in jazz.
McBride’s latest recording, Without Further Ado, Vol 1, earned McBride a fourth Grammy for his Big Band recordings, and features unforgettable arrangements of classic songs ranging from jazz to R&B to pop with an array of starry guest vocalists. Joining for this concert is the knockout singer José James, who blurs the lines between jazz, hip-hop, soul, funk, and pop, and the stellar Melissa Walker, whose warm, rich vocals, impeccable phrasing, and soulful swing have made her one of the most respected singers in jazz.
