High school classrooms connect with contemporary and classic literature by attending readings and meetings with featured authors presented in this new program.

Classes enrolled in this season’s program will explore the work of Richard Blanco, the fifth Presidential Inaugural Poet and 2023 National Humanities Medal Awardee, with a special focus on the release of Blanco’s most recent collection of poetry: Homeland Of My Body, which reassess traditional notions of home as strictly a geographical, tangible place that merely exist outside us, but rather, within us.

Each enrolled class has two program packages to choose from:

Program Package #1:

• Three writing workshops led by a 92NY Teaching Artist*
• Attendance at reading and conversation with Richard Blanco at 92NY, exclusively for enrolled students & teachers (event schedule below)
• Original teaching materials and curriculum guide for partnering classroom teachers
• Complimentary copies of Homeland Of My Body: New & Selected Poems by Richard Blanco
• Professional Development workshop for partnering classroom teachers

Program Package #1 Fee: $1,200 per class

*Workshops take place at the school during regular school-day hours between March and May 2024.

Program Package #2:

• Attendance at reading and conversation with Richard Blanco at 92NY, exclusively for enrolled students & teachers (event schedule below)
• Original teaching materials and curriculum guide for partnering classroom teachers
• Complimentary copies of Homeland Of My Body: New & Selected Poems by Richard Blanco
• Professional Development workshop for partnering classroom teachers

Program Package #2 Fee: $500 per class
