Choosing the right instrument is an important first step in beginning classes or private lessons at 92NY School of Music. This guide offers practical recommendations for families and adult students who are renting or purchasing an instrument for the first time.

Models, prices, and availability may change. Retailer links are provided for convenience and do not guarantee current inventory or pricing. For many beginning students, especially growing children, renting from a reputable music store may be the best first step.

All students (excluding piano/keyboard) should bring their required instrument and accessories to the first class or lesson.
